Real Estate Tip from Greg Harrelson

I hope this year is starting off good for you and your business. Personally, I believe we can all achieve great success this year in real estate if we apply the right mindset. For the past 5 years, so many agents have been trying to figure out if the market is going down further or if it is about to recover. This distraction isn’t only happening to Myrtle Beach real estate agents, it’s happening to agents in every market across the country. When you look closely at our business, it doesn’t really matter what the market is doing. If the market goes down, we have a job to do. If the market goes up, we have a job to do. If the market is flat, guess what, we have a job to do.

Our job does not change because the market changes. At the end of the day, our job is to serve the consumer. We must be the solution for the challenges our sellers have and assist buyers in acheiving their goals. We must represent our clients to the best of our abilities no matter what is happening in the market.

So, if our job doesn’t change because of the market then what does? The following list are things that have to change to be successful in a changing real estate market.

1. Your Attitude

When there is a bunch of negativity in the market, you must remain positive. Negative plus negative equals more negative. Negative plus positive equals less negative and a chance for positive.

2. Your Approach

The approach you take in real estate sales must be calculated. The consumer is no longer interested in real estate agents who ‘just wing it’. The consumer is looking for agents who know what is going on in the market. They want an agent who communicates well and has systems in place that proves the agent is organized and able to make the sale. Buyers and Sellers are looking for a professional approach that gives them confidence that the job will get done.

3. Your Expectations

As always, you have to have confidence in your self and your ability to serve your clients. In today’s real estate market, you have to expect success will come in order to realize it. There is a catch though. You have to earn the right to expect success.

How do you earn the right to expect success?

A. You have to study your business like a doctor studies medicine.
B. You must practice your skills like a professional golfer practices on the driving range.
C. You must learn how to listen twice as much as you talk.
D. You must communicate from the place of contribution.
E. You must surround yourself in an environment with others who earn the right to expect success.
F. You must seek to serve the consumer.

As you can see, we can all succeed in today’s real estate market if we set our minds to it. Success is a choice that we must make every morning when we wake up. Have the right attitude, take the right approach and expect success at all times. Not only do you deserve success yet you deserve to have fun in pursuit of it.

I hope you find some value in this months coaching tip. I am committed to helping as many people as I can succeed in the profession of selling real estate. If we all seek to serve our clients and our fellow real estate agent then I believe we can improve the overall image of our profession.

Let me know if there is anything that I can do to help you.
